IN-CHARACTER AND OUT-OF-CHARACTER ROLEPLAYING RULES FOR WILLOW TREE HAVEN

ͼ∙ᵜᴖᵕ•◦ω◦•ᵕᴖᵜ∙ͽ OUT-OF-CHARACTER Rules ͼ∙ᵜᴖᵕ•◦ω◦•ᵕᴖᵜ∙ͽ

  1. Writing. When it comes to roleplays, we want you all to have a good experience with your encounters, so write as if you were telling a story. If you can’t write full-blown paragraphs, that’s fine, but write in a way that your RP partner can feel and see what your character’s feeling and seeing.

  2. Plots. There are two kinds: Main Story and Personal.

    • A Main Story plot is when a server event occurs that drives the main story of the entirety of the server. Events such as these require players to OPT-In for participation.

    • Meanwhile, a Personal Plot is any story arc created by a player or players to further character development in relation and respect to either current events, or times before current events. These are best done either in the server channels that depict certain locations (i.e., #generals-chambers, #medical-ward, #residential-hollow, etc.) or in Discord DMs with all involved players to carry out the RP. If doing this in Discord, please make sure to have it copy-pasted into Google docs at the RP’s conclusion so it may be shared with others.

  3. Ask before you type. Please be polite and talk to the player you are roleplaying with. Don’t pull a move and make a decision for you and your rp partner, make sure to discuss it first and foremost. If you cannot follow this guideline, then Mods/Admins will need to step in.

  4. Like in our Main Rules: let’s try to curb the cursing as best as we can, there may be younger ears listening.

  5. Godmodding. Godmodding is the act of one character having control of any given situation at all times, which includes persuading enemies to become allies arbitrarily on a dime, evading any and all attacks or damage of any sort, being unphased when actually hit, having everyone love them unconditionally, always able under all circumstances to save the day, etc. It’s basically having your character become Superman not just in physical prowess but in charisma and persuasion. Let’s try not to do this, shall we?

  6. Metagaming. Any information is known OOC (out of character) being used as information known IC (in character). Your characters do not know everyone’s strengths, weaknesses, pasts, personal relations, or current issues. They only know what is possible from what they experience with other characters. Your characters are not mind readers. Please keep OOC known information out of RP.

  7. Actions always have consequences. If your character does a thing and you expect them to get off scot-free, think again. For every action your character(s) may take, there is a reaction. Each land assigned to a Warren is different; some are relaxed and some are strict, make sure you know which warren you wish to be in, you have plenty to choose from.

  8. Trigger Posting. If you think your post will have sensitive scenes, (via fight scenes with blood, slight gore, or death) give your partner a warning or a heads up beforehand. (i.e., type something like ‘Content Warning: blood’ at the beginning of your post before proceeding to make it, and make sure anyone involved is talked to and are on the same page.)

  9. NSFW RP: This is for private role-play and both players must be 18+ IN REAL LIFE and COMFORTABLE with the idea of 'acting out' specific interactions between their characters. These RP's can be submitted for Smooth Pebbles via a word document/ Google Doc in a Discord DM to the WTH Staff. You and your partner will be given your Smooth Pebbles in private, and you can upload your RP to your personal DA... But NOT to the group. Please mark it accordingly, etc, etc.

  10. Don’t overwork yourself with so many RP’s. Try to pace yourself and have at least One character in one RP channel. If you feel like you can multitask, ask your RP partner if it’s okay to RP as two characters.

ͼ∙ᵜᴖᵕ•◦ω◦•ᵕᴖᵜ∙ͽ IN-CHARACTER Rules ͼ∙ᵜᴖᵕ•◦ω◦•ᵕᴖᵜ∙ͽ

As mentioned, every Warren is completely different and so is their way of living, however, when it comes to physical confrontations of any type: ALL RULES ARE THE SAME…

  1. Please remember that your character(s) can only be in one place at a time, and any mention of movement from one channel to another has to be RPed out in the former channel for your character(s) to end up in the latter channel.

Fighting within your Warren: If your character has a dispute with another and wishes to fight it out, they must be accompanied by a higher officer of their Warren’s Rank, this often means the Second in command or the next rank lower. Be sure that when you do challenge a member, that the challenge is within reason. If the Higher rank sees that your reasoning is foolish or has no true purpose, they will disband this challenge and speak with both parties privately.

  1. Remember, your brother is not your enemy and if there is a way to settle things without a fight, then do so. Otherwise, your fighting will not go unpunished.
    • [ For example: if two rabbits have issued a challenge, a Captain and a Soldier are to hear the reasoning behind the fight, determine if it can be settled without issuing a challenge or deem the reason acceptable and be a witness to the challenge so no deaths can occur. ]

Violence amongst the young: As adults, we are to set an example for the Kits who come into the warren, wide-eyed and curious. They should never be involved in any type of fighting! If you see that a kit has entered a fight or is trying to start one, STOP THE FIGHT IMMEDIATELY. This rule depends on which warren the kits or rabbits come from.

Punishment within the warrens: Each warren has its own type of punishment that is issued to its people. Some are very strict and may seem cruel, while others are more gentle and are meant to help build character. If you do not wish to follow the orders of your higher up for the punishment given, your last option would be to stay confined to your home under ‘home arrest’ for however long the higher up deems.

DEATH: When your character dies, be it by battle or during some unforeseen occurrence, we will allow the players to reuse their Character File. However, if you decide to kill off your character, you will lose the Character File for that character. If you wish to have more characters, you must purchase a Character File and have it approved by the Moderators/Admins.

ͼ∙ᵜᴖᵕ•◦ω◦•ᵕᴖᵜ∙ͽ CHANGES IN YOUR CHARACTERS ͼ∙ᵜᴖᵕ•◦ω◦•ᵕᴖᵜ∙ͽ

Aging: All Rabbits age equally in this world, so in order to keep track of this, we advise that you keep an eye on the day your character was ‘conceived.’

For Example: If you created your character in March. 12th, then by Aug. 12th they would have reached the age of 6 moons old.

IC Disabilities and Illness: We understand that you want to make your character unique from the rest, so giving them missing limbs, broken parts or even illnesses would be something of an eye-catcher. While this may be true, you are also hindering your character with this type of thinking;

  • If a character has a disability, they might get seriously hurt or cause someone else to get injured.

  • If a character has a missing limb, they might get left behind (depending on the warren) or be told to stay at their designated warren, not to mention they will have a disadvantage out in the field or in a fight.

  • If a character has an illness, they will more than likely be told to stay quarantined in their home OR might even be told to leave for the protection of the warren.

So please be very aware and think your characters through, before putting them through this sort of lifestyle. Now injured limbs and getting sick naturally is something that does occur during this world, but be mindful of how bad you want it to get for your character in particular. With that being said, please show respect for characters that do have a type of disability, and be sure to do your research.

[WARNING: If a player sees another player causing a repeated occurrence and the disability in question has become displayed improperly, the player in question will be asked to remove it. This includes the heavy stereotyping of physical and mental illnesses.]

What to do when your character is ROMANTICALLY INVOLVEDThere are several stages of romance when it comes to wanting to pair your character with another:

  1. Compatibility: Both players must agree to see if their characters will be a fitting match for one another. This usually takes about a month (In Character) or 2 wks IRL. If you feel your characters are not compatible, be sure to break things off IC peacefully. Remember, this is only a roleplay.

    • [WARNING: If there is an issue IRL and it is being seen brought into the roleplays, please DM a Moderator/Administrator for further assistance.]

  2. Courtship: After some time with each other’s characters (and being active always helps too), it's time to move on to the next stage and announce your character’s relationship status from FRIENDS to PARTNERS.

    • [WARNING: If the character in question has not been faithful and has another partner on the side, please discuss the matter via Private Chat and settle the issue there. If it has reached the attention of the Moderators/Administrators, further action will be taken.]

  3. Unified / Betrothed: As more time passes, and you are both ready for the final step, it is now time to seek the blessings of FRITH and The Black Rabbit of Inle. In order to go forward with this, both parties must travel to Willow Tree Haven -the only TRUE NEUTRAL- to begin the ceremony.

    •  [NOTE: Depending on your rank, If your partner is from an enemy warren, know that this could either mend the intolerance of both warrens or cause a larger rift.]

How many Kits is TOO MANY? As we all know, rabbits are the master breeders of the world and will one day take over. BUT NOT TODAY, CHACHI! To save everyone the headache and from venturing to Kentucky, the maximum amount of kits per litter is 6, and the max amount of litters you can have is 3.

[NOTE: To see how many kits you have per litter, is determined by a d6 die, of which will be rolled for you and your partner by a Moderator. This is to protect the players from unfair decision making as well as prevent players from cheating/ overpopulation. Moderators are required to take screenshots of their roll to prove the outcome of the die.]

Tryouts for kits: If you wish to have tryouts for your offspring, you must set an end date for posted tryouts. This applies to liters only; and if by the end date you have not been able to find a player for your children, they will be turned into the NPC Adoption Center until you hold a new tryout a month after your previous one.

How many CHARACTER FILES are we permitted? What else can I get? When you become an approved member, you are eligible for 2 free Character Files, this will also include the Character Submission you sent prior to your approval. While it is recommended that your characters establish their presence within their warren, (ie. they must be at least a month active); if you wish to pursue additional Character Files, you must travel to the Farmer’s Market designated within the Website/Forum. and are permitted to purchase up to 5 more Character Files, giving you a total of 7 Character Files to own.
